We met with my doctor again with fingers crossed for better lab values and good news. My doctor was shocked that my CD57 cells came up to 125! Previously they were 92. When we first started they were around 15. Like I stated in an earlier post - we want those levels to be around 250-300 at a minimum.
He explained that my immune system is finally starting to wake back up again and help fight with the medications that I am on. That gave us a lot of hope that we are on the right road to recovery. Dr J. continued to tell us that Lyme’s would not give up easily. He told me to not get discouraged if the next lab-draw results show that those levels have dropped back down because the Lyme disease is going to fight back.
Honestly, I am just so happy that they are actually improving. My iron levels have continued to be very low so I will be getting two IV infusions of it at the hospital. He told me to keep fighting and that my positive attitude is how I have made it this far. That meant a lot because most days it is a true battle for me. I feel like I have been pulled and stretched in so many ways, but truly looking back I have learned so very much that I never would have learned with any other trial. So in a way, I am really grateful for this trial and all that it has taught my family and me so far. Lyme disease does not define me, and that is why we are here to FIGHT LYME’S!
Love,
Maddie and Landon
