Dr. Johnson's main goal for us when we started meeting in the fall of 2015 was to first build up my immune system and my stomach. He talked with us about how the key with our health lies in how healthy our gut is. I had a problem called Leaky Gut at the time and we needed that fixed before we could start any type of Lyme treatments. Leaky gut was essentially little holes in my stomach that good bacteria would leak out of. We also learned that cows milk was worsening my stomach problems. I no longer consume cows milk and have not since 2015. Instead of cow's milk Dr. J has recommended that I use almond milk and Greek yogurt as a replacement.

We slowly built up my stomach with probiotics and different supplements (and we still are). After focusing on getting my stomach healthy Dr. Johnson felt we needed to do a round of parasite medicine. Starting the parasite medicine hit me like a ton of bricks. I almost felt paralyzed. My whole body went into a complete shutdown but I was able to get rid of some worms and parasites. YUCK! An interesting note was that the eyesight in my left eye overnight had suddenly become blurry and I couldn't read the board at school. Later that day I literally had a worm come out of my left eyeball!! That was a pretty good indication that the parasite medicine had worked. haha. It took my body a few days to recover from that.

After working to kill off the parasites I went through a phase of not feeling great, and I had many up and down days. We then began antibiotic treatments. We were excited and ready to start killing off my Lyme Disease.

It seemed surreal that after almost 3 years of suffering, we had finally found a doctor who really diagnosed me with what I actually had, started actual treatments, and instilled hope in me that I can and will get better.

A couple of weeks later I was in an ugly car accident that I was lucky to walk away alive from. After that happened I found myself asking what else was going to happen to me. What else did I need to learn? A day after my accident my sweet husband came into my life and that has been my greatest blessing.

Flash forward a year and now here we are; still fighting the Lyme disease. My treatment regimen has been switched up multiple times based on what Dr. Johnson feels and what we feel. Each day is a new experience. We are in close touch with my doctor and our routine consists of lab draws, iron infusions, and doctor visits.

I am blessed to say that I feel lucky to have gone through and go through what I do each day because I have seen (and continue to see) so many blessings and miracles through the ups and the downs. I have the best family, extended family and friends who keep fighting with me! To those who read this please keep fighting, keep hoping and keep smiling, good things always come to those who wait.
